It seems like every week or so Utah wins another award for being a great place to live. But these awards are just the tip of the iceberg. In reality, what makes Utah great are the great people who live here.
Utahns care about their community and their neighbors. They give time and money to charity. They study hard in school and they work hard when they go to work. They elect good people to govern their cities, counties and state. Who should get the credit for all the awards Utah receives? Utahns of course!
That’s why the Utah Bankers Association is launching a new social media initiative entitled “The Heart of Our Community!” We want to give credit where credit is due – the wonderful people and the non-profit organizations they support that work hard to fill the gaps that exist in the fabric of our communities
Utah bankers see it every day. Last year we donated over $50 million to these marvelous organizations, and volunteered over 700,000 hours to help them reach their goals. We know what they are doing and we are in awe of the wonderful service they provide to the most vulnerable among us.
We want to share with everyone the inspiring things we see each and every day. And we hope that by sharing these stories, we will inspire even more people to reach out and volunteer, contribute and serve in the community.
Each story we publish will generate $250 of support from Utah’s banks to the sponsoring non-profit organization. After that, Utah’s banks will contribute an additional $1,000 for the story that generates the most social media buzz (likes, shares, retweets, etc.) each quarter.
If you have been inspired by someone who has done something to touch someone’s life and make their community a better place to live, please share that story with us so we can share it with everyone. We can’t have enough good news these days.
